Fifty-five shortlisted in the race for EMVIES 2007  ( June '16,2007, DNA)

The race for EMVIES, the award ceremony organised by the Advertising Club of Bombay to honour excellence in media, has begun, with 55 advertisements of the 384 entries shortlisted. This year the Ad Club received the highest number of entries since the institution of the awards seven years ago.

This 55 shortlisted commercials has been segregated into 15 categories: Best Media Research, Best Media Innovation-TV, Best Media Innovation- Print, Best Media Innovation- Radio, Best Media Innovation - Cinema, Best Integrated Campaign, Best Media Innovation - Never Used Before Media, Best Media Strategy - Consumer Products, Best Media Strategy - Consumer Durables, Best Media Strategy - Services, Best Media Strategy - Media, Best Media Strategy - Digital, Best Media Strategy - Direct Marketing, Best Media Strategy - Events, and Best Media Strategy - Out-Of-Home.
During the first round of judging, these entries were put to test by 38 professionals from the media industry.
The panel of jury for the first round of judging included - Srilekha Aggarwal, Nuggehalli D. Badrinath, Debraj Tripathy, Arpita Menon, Sushma Jhaveri, Anupriya Acharya, Jasmin Sohrabji, Nandini Dias, Punitha Arumugam, Gowthaman Ragothaman, N B Verma, Ashok Dhamankar, Triveni Das, Divya Radhakrishnan, Girish Ahuja, Himanshu Shekhar, Harish Shriyan, S Yesudas, Dnyanada Chaudhari, Manish Porwal, Amit Ray, Jaikishin Chhaproo, Rana Barua, Mubina Ansari, Harsha Joshi, Ashit Kukian, Navin Shah, Abhijit Saxena, Avinash Pillai, Anand Chakravarthy, Harbindra Bindra, Arun Tyagi, Sanjay Shah, C.D.Mitra, Farida Sabnavis, Rakhshin Patel, Ajit Varghese, and Shripad Kulkarni.
The second round of judging will take place during the case study presentations from June 19-20, 2007. The agency which scores the maximum points in three categories — Best Media Strategy, Best Integrated Campaign and Best Media Innovation — will win the award of the Media Agency of the Year.
The Grand EMVIE will go to the agency scoring the highest aggregate score across all categories. The final awards ceremony is slated for June 29.
Bipin Pandit, general manager, Ad Club, said, “EMVIES has come a long way since its inception in 2001, when we started as a part of the Indian Advertising Festival. With the growth in media we realised that this award ceremony required a separate identity. This year the number of entries were an all time high. As far as categories and awards are concerned, we have decided to waive this award and include a new award ‘Best Media Strategy -Media/Media Property”.
