Frozen food from Vadilal  ( October '12,2001, ET)

THIS IS hot stuff from ice-cream manufacturer Vadilal : the Rs 145-crore group has launched a range of frozen vegetables and foods in the domestic market, including ready-to-cook parathas and samosas and heat-and-eat curries.

The company, which is already successfully exporting these products in the overseas market under the name Quick Treat, has now decided to introduce the brand in the domestic market.

"In the microwave era, there is a good market for frozen foods in the urban areas, especially metros," general manager (food processing), Maulin Surati, told The Economic Times.

"The brand is well-accepted in the USA, the UK, Canada, New Zealand and the West Asia. So we are confident of succeeding on the domestic front as well." To begin with, the company has already launched its frozen foods and vegetables in Ahmedabad through 10 exclusive outlets.
