Amritsar spa ties up with Welcom Heritage  ( September '8,2004, BS)

Amritsar will now have another tourist attraction, apart from the Golden Temple—“Ranjit Svaasa”, a heritage boutique spa. The resort recently went into a tie-up with Welcom Heritage for brand promotion.

One of the few spas in the northern region, Ranjit Svasaa is spread over 3,500 square yards. The resort is located in an old mansion that belongs to the descendants of Rai Bahadur Rattan Chand, once a prominent denizen of the city. They conceptualised the resort, inspired by results of ayurvedic therapy they received.

Managing Director Rama Mehra said serious ailments could be cured here. There was tremendous scope for business in Amritsar because the city had good connectivity by road, rail and air, she added.

The resort, launched last year, had received good response from non-resident Indians, foreign tourists, and the embassies, Mehra said. The mansion has eleven rooms with attached baths. The rooms and spa facilities are offered at reasonable rates.

“Only organic ingredients are used for cooking and are sourced from internationally certified growers like Nav Danya, Grewal Organic Farms, Kurenji,” Mehra said.

An excessive use of chemicals in agriculture in Punjab is turning out to be a health hazard. The consumption of organic food could check this to a great extent, said Mehra. “We want to spread this message across the country through this resort,” she added.

Mehra said she was keen to supply organic food to the airlines, whose customers show preference for it.

The Mehras are looking to expand in the US, Bangladesh, and Dubai. “We are also contemplating opening a resort in Banaras,” Mehra said.
