Pergo Plans To Open Exclusive Designer Outlets Across India  ( August '25,2004, FE)

Pergo, the world leader in laminate flooring, has decided to establish exclusive designer outlets across the country to cash in on the demand for its products.

The company, which has centres in Mumbai and Delhi, has opened its third exclusive outlet in Hyderabad on Tuesday and plans to open more in other major cities across the country, said KR Shivshankar, chief executive officer, Pergo India Private Ltd.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, he said the company expects 26 lakh sq ft laminate floorings installation during the calendar year as compared to 20 lakh sq ft last calendar year. "We are targeting sales of Rs 22 crore as compared to Rs 16 crore last calendar year," he said.

The company, with a market share of 75 per cent in the laminate floorings in India, has products ranging from Rs 130 a sq ft to Rs 250 a sq ft. The guarantee on the products ranges from 10 to 50 years, he said further.

The company’s products have been positively tested for moisture, humidity, expansion and contraction to suit Indian weather conditions and they won’t lose colour or shade, Mr Shivshankar claimed.

To enable customers make better choices, through an interactive kiosk on display, customers can login to the Pergo e-showroom to choose from Pergo’s products for different rooms of a house and can accordingly change the colour of the walls, upholstery, etc.

For instance, they can choose a flooring decor of their choice and visualise exactly how the room will look once it is installed, Mr Shivshankar explained.
