Welspun Division Spaces In Expansion Mode  ( May '24,2004, FE)

Spaces—an eight-month old retail division of Welspun India Ltd—is exploring newer ways of constructing product dispensers for complete bedlinen and bathline concepts within 20 Spaces shop-in-shops, which the company is planning to set up by June end 2004.

The objective behind the move is to enhance the brand identity for Spaces. The plan to create new strategies at the merchandise levels to trigger more consumer purchase of Spaces bedlinen and bathline collection, Spaces director Deepali Goenka told FE.

To source product dispensers, said Ms Goenka: “Spaces is currently in talks with Delhi-based Magnum Interiors Ltd, Chennai-based Skydome and Bangalore-based Artisans. It plans to finalise talks with any one company for sourcing product dispensers.”

Further, Spaces has chalked out expansion plans to spur more volumes of Spaces bedlinen and bathline collection. In the next two years, it plans to set up 60 Spaces shop-in-shops within premium retail outlets & malls and 12 stand-alone exclusive Spaces showrooms across the country, she added.

The company is also planning to expand its number of multi-branded outlets from 800 to 1,200 within a year.
