Nakamichi to set up 3 more franchisee-owned outlets  ( January '15,2001, FE)

Nakamichi India plans to set up additional three exclusive franchisee-owned showrooms each in Delhi, Chennai and Chandigarh by February 2001. The company, which is an Indian subsidiary of Tokyo-based Nakamichi Corporation, launched SoundSpace 21 - the flagship of the SoundSpace series of home theatre products in November 2000.

Priced in the range of Rs 45,000 to Rs 8 lakh, Nakamichi products are currently available through three exclusive franchisees in Mumbai, such as Crossroads (Haji Ali), Twist Electronic (Khar) and multi-branded shop - Vijay Sales (Opera House) in Mumbai.

According to Nakamichi India COO Mr Anil Khera: "The franchisee at Crossroads is considered the largest selling franchisee for Nakamichi products as it has so far sold over Rs 1 crore worth of products per month. The company expects to achieve an even higher sales growth through this franchisee alone." Says Mr Khera: "Nakamichi India has imported Nakamichi products to the tune of Rs 10 crore. Once the exclusive franchisees are set up in every city, the company targets sales of Rs 5 crore in a month."
