Bata opens `flagship' store in Mumbai  ( January '29,2004, HBL)

BATA India Ltd has announced the opening of its flagship store in Mumbai.

According to a press release, the flagship store was conceptualised by Bata and designed by architect-designer Mr Sanjiv Verma reflecting international trends. It is different from Bata's existing stores in the country.

Bata is reinventing itself as an international retailer and has introduced the concept of flagship stores to provide a shopping experience on a par with stores abroad, the press release said.

Mr Enrico Tonolli, Senior Vice-President, Bata India, in charge of the flagship stores, said, "We plan to have around 10 Bata flagship stores in major cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad by the end of 2004. All these stores will be abuzz with round-the-year activities and will see the introduction of Bata's global range of high-fashion footwear at regular intervals."
