`HP India is market leader'  ( November '26,2003, HBL)

HP India Pvt Ltd said on Tuesday that it has been named by market research and consultancy firm IDC as the leader in the standard Intel architecture server (SIAS) market for the fourth consecutive quarter in terms of units shipped.

The company shipped 3,866 units of standard Intel architecture servers in Q3 2003 (July-September), a growth of 103.7 per cent year-on-year compared with Q3, 2002, when it had shipped 1,907 units, said Mr Vaibhav Phadnis, Country Manager, Industry Standard Servers, HP India.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Phadnis said HP led the Indian SIAS market projected at $150 million, with 30.9 per cent of the total server units shipped in Q3 2003, showing a sequential growth of 0.6 per cent.

Meanwhile, the company has introduced the HP Proliant ML 150 in the Indian market.

HP would be assembling the ML Proliant 150 servers at its facility in Bangalore, which has an installed capacity of 3,000 servers per month.

"We expect to ship about 500 units per quarter," Mr Phadnis said.

The company is also introducing the HP Systems Insight Manager, a management tool to unify platform management across hardware environments in the Indian market, he said.
