Aerens plans to open 10 souks  ( September '23,2003, HBL)

Aerens Goldsouk International Ltd, promoters of India's first exclusive jewellery mall, is planning to open 10 souks across the country.

The first souk is scheduled to open in Gurgaon by 2004, which will be followed by nine such souks at Kochi, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Ludhiana.

The souk in Gurgaon has already signed with a number of leading jewellers from all over the country. These include Alukkas of Kerala, Hazoorilal of Delhi, JKJ Jewellers from Jaipur.

Mr G.S. Pillai, President of Aerens Goldsouk, said that the concept of gold souk was conceived with the objective of bringing a revolution in the Indian jewellery market. By bringing jewellers under one roof, the souk aims to redefine jewellery retailing standards which will encourage the consumers, NRIs and foreign tourist to spend more on jewellery thus boosting the Indian jewellery industry.

The souk at Gurgaon will be set up at a 1,80,000-sq.ft. area and will showcase the best of Indian and international jewellery including gold, silver, platinum, semi precious stones, watches etc.
