The century-old Indian advertising industry has been continuously
displaying its brilliance. Every day is recorded with something
new in advertising - be it in outdoor, print, TV, radio, internet
or any other medium.
In spite of Rs. 8,500 crore billing, the ad industry of our country
does not have a 'single-window' ad library or an archive, that gives
one access to ads released in India from time to time.
Realising the need and importance of a national-level advertising
archive, Mudra Communications has pioneered and initiated the effort
to set-up an advertising library - MAGINDIA.
MAGINDIA, a not-for-profit centre is an archive of the entire India
advertising collection at one place. MAGINDIA uses state-of-the
art Information Technology (IT) and Communication Tools, for selection,
collection, documentation, storage and retrieval of ads.
Objectives
- To act as the national level library of Indian marketing and advertising
history
- To source, collect, document and preserve the advertisements released
in India from time to time in print, TV, Radio, Internet, Outdoor
and other media under one roof
- To offer membership and value-added services to the Indian advertising
industry, professionals and students via on-line as well as physical
access
- To popularise the Indian advertising industry across the globe
In MAGINDIA, every day, hundreds of ads are tracked, digitised and
added to the central database.
At present, it has 2 lakh ads of various brands spanning over 10
years across different product categories in its physical archive.
There are more than 45,000 agency creatives (across 550 plus product
categories and 2000 plus brands) available online. In
addition, there's the whole collection of Mudra ads since its inception
in 1980.
MAGINDIA has,
in fact, created a record by getting an entry as the 'Largest ad
library' in the Limca Book of Records 2002.
The Ex Chairman
and Managing Director of Mudra, Shri AG Krishnamurthy has donated
the entire collection of Mudra Central Archives, which was maintained
under his personal supervision during the last two decades, apart
from extending the company's substantial financial support and infrastructure,
which is worth Rs.10 million to MAGINDIA.

collates information from about 200-odd publications regularly.
At present, it has over 1 lakh press clippings on various product
categories and services.
On the basis of data collected, MAGINDIA has developed some products,
